Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

ONEGOODJUNE ("we", "us", "our") is based in Nigeria and provides storytelling and creative-writing coaching, programs, and resources through onegoodjune.com (the "Website") and related services, including the Christian Creative Writers Fellowship, School of Growth, and The Story Anatomy.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how we use and protect it, and the choices and rights you have. We process personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and, for visitors in the UK and European Economic Area, the GDPR and UK GDPR.

By using the Website or our services, you acknowledge that you have read this Policy.

2. Age Requirement and Parental Consent

Our services are for people aged 15 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 15.

Ages 15 to 17. Under Nigerian law, a person under 18 is a child, and we need the consent of a parent or legal guardian before we process their personal data. If you are 15, 16, or 17, you must have a parent or guardian's permission before you register for a program, join our mailing list, make a purchase, or otherwise give us your personal data. We may ask for proof of that consent, for example a written confirmation sent from the parent or guardian's email address to admin@onegoodjune.com.

Parents and guardians. You may at any time ask to see, correct, or delete your child's data, or withdraw your consent, by emailing admin@onegoodjune.com. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide the service to your child.

Under 15. If we learn that we hold personal data from a person under 15, or from a person aged 15 to 17 without verified parental consent, we will delete it promptly. If you believe this has happened, please contact us.

3. Personal Data We Collect

  • Information you give us: name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, country, and any details you include when you fill in forms, register for a program or challenge, book a coaching session, subscribe to our newsletter, or contact us.
  • Payment information: payments are handled by our payment providers (for example, Mainstack). We receive confirmation of payment and basic order details. We do not store your full card or bank details.
  • Program and coaching information: attendance, submissions, workbook responses, and communications within our programs, Zoom sessions, and community groups.
  • Technical and usage data: IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and referring pages, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
  • Communications: messages you send us and email interaction data (such as opens and clicks) from our newsletters.

We do not ask for sensitive personal data. Please do not send us such information unless a program specifically requires it and tells you so.

4. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide, run, and improve our programs, coaching, and resources
  • To process registrations and payments and send confirmations and receipts
  • To send newsletters, updates, and program information (you can unsubscribe at any time)
  • To respond to your enquiries and provide support
  • To manage our communities and accountability groups
  • To understand how the Website is used and improve it
  • To keep the Website secure and prevent fraud or misuse
  • To meet our legal and tax obligations

5. Legal Bases for Processing

We process personal data when:

  • You consent, for example newsletter signup, or parental consent for users aged 15 to 17. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • It is necessary to perform a contract with you, such as delivering a program you have paid for.
  • We have a legitimate interest that does not override your rights, such as securing the Website and understanding how it is used.
  • The law requires it.

6. Who We Share Data With

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf under appropriate confidentiality and security obligations, including:

  • Email delivery: Brevo
  • Payments: Mainstack and other payment processors we may use
  • Video sessions: Zoom and Google Meet
  • Community and communication platforms: WhatsApp and Substack
  • Website hosting and analytics: our hosting provider and Google Analytics

We may also disclose data where required by law, court order, or a lawful request from a regulator, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.

Future partners. If we begin working with partners who will receive your personal data, we will update this Policy and, where the law requires, ask for your consent first.

7. International Transfers

Some of our providers are located or store data outside Nigeria. When we transfer personal data abroad, we take steps to ensure it is protected to a standard consistent with the NDPA and, where applicable, the GDPR, such as using providers with appropriate safeguards.

8. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our Website uses cookies to make it work, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use it. You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Website works. Where required, we will ask for your consent before using non-essential cookies.

9. How Long We Keep Data

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above. In general: newsletter data until you unsubscribe; program and payment records for as long as needed for service delivery, accounting, and legal obligations; and technical data for a limited period. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

10. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including access controls and trusted providers. No online system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your rights, we will notify you and the relevant authority where the law requires.

11. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Be informed about how we use your data
  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Restrict or object to certain processing, including direct marketing
  • Receive your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting processing already done
  • Not be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing that significantly affect you

To exercise these rights, email admin@onegoodjune.com. We may need to verify your identity first. We will respond within a reasonable time, and within one month where the GDPR applies.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In Nigeria, this is the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). If you are in the UK or EEA, you may contact your local supervisory authority.

12. Third-Party Links

The Website may link to third-party websites and platforms. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page with the effective date at the top. For significant changes, we will notify you by email or a notice on the Website.
